Gas safety inspections
The law states that under the Gas Safety Regulations 1998, should you rent out a property, you must keep a new gas safety certificate every 12 months. This certificate must be provided by a gas safe registered engineer. At SPM Plumbing and Heating, we offer gas safety inspections and certificates to the Ringwood area, all of our engineers are fully qualified and gas safe registered, allowing them to work with you to attain the important gas safety certificate. Having a wealth of experience in the industry means that we are qualified to provide and undergo any inspections you may require.
What do our inspections involve?
To obtain a gas safe certificate, the following areas will need to be looked at by a gas safe engineer…
- Gas appliances will be checked for tightness
- If you have test points then standing and working pressure will be tested
- The burner pressure and gas rate will also be checked against to the manufacturers data plate
- Checks will be carried out for necessary ventilation
- Flue flow will be tested
- Flame failure devices will be checked for satisfactory operations
- Appropriate checks will be carried out for physical stability
Should all of these areas be passed, you will then receive a gas safety certificate.
Providing comprehensive inspections
The first thing that our team will do is send out one of our certified expert technicians to your location, in order to perform inspections, it’s necessary to check all appliances within the structure, this is to make sure that there are no obvious problems found and that they meet with manufactures recommendations. In addition to this, we test both standing pressure and working pressure, provided that test points are given. We will also consider things like the burner pressure and the gas rate on the appliances, comparing the information which has been obtained during the inspection with the information in the manufacturer data. If it matches, then this is a good thing, if not then additional maintenance may be required in order for the inspection to be a pass.
We’ll also check the flue flow to guard against the possibility of emissions come back into the house and we always perform device checks used for flame failure, as well as the physical stability of the overall appliances themselves. We also take things a step further and check the ventilation inside the structure itself. It is essential that the ventilation doesn’t pose any problems, with regard to potential leaks or emissions problems. In other words the structure may be well ventilated and every appliance in the structure must be working properly in order for us to issue the certificate.
Safety with SPM Plumbing
In the end everything comes down to a matter of safety, the reason you need a certificate in the first place, is to ensure safety.
